Tramwaje Śląskie – modernization and development of tram infrastructure in the Metropolis GZM (Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolia) (FEnIKS 2021-2027)
A strategic program for the modernization and expansion of the tram network in the Metropolis GZM (Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolia), carried out by Tramwaje Śląskie S.A. and co-financed by the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment (FEnIKS) 2021-2027 program. The total value of the undertaking exceeds PLN 1.3 billion, of which approx. PLN 735 million is EU co-financing from FEnIKS; the co-financing agreements were signed on 6 October 2025. The scope covers new tram lines (including to the south of Katowice and an extension in Sosnowiec), dozens of kilometers of modernized track and overhead traction network, and the purchase of 30 modern, low-floor trams. The investments are being carried out in several cities of the agglomeration, including Katowice, Sosnowiec, Bytom, Dąbrowa Górnicza and Będzin, in cooperation with local governments. The project was granted the status of a strategic operation under the FEnIKS program.

Significance
The program is intended to modernize and expand the core of the tram network of the most densely populated conurbation in Poland, served by Tramwaje Śląskie S.A. New lines will be built (including a nearly 10-kilometer route to the south of Katowice and an extension in Sosnowiec), dozens of kilometers of track and overhead traction network will be modernized, and the rolling stock will be supplemented with 30 new, low-floor trams improving accessibility and travel comfort. It is one of the largest public transport undertakings carried out in Poland under the EU 2021-2027 perspective, holding the status of a FEnIKS strategic operation.
