S7 Warsaw – Gdańsk / Warsaw – Krakow (corridor-closing sections)

under constructionstage: construction

A collective entry covering the last missing sections of the S7 expressway that close two transit corridors: the northern Warsaw – Gdańsk and the southern Warsaw – Krakow. In the north, an approx. 35 km stretch Płońsk Południe – Czosnów is being built (the Płońsk Południe – Załuski, Załuski – Modlin and Czosnów – Modlin sections), whose successive parts were opened to traffic in autumn and winter 2025. The Modlin – Czosnów section (9.7 km) was made available in late October 2025, and the Modlin – Załuski (12 km) and Załuski – Płońsk Południe (12.9 km) sections on 19 December 2025. Still to be built are the Czosnów – Warsaw parts (Czosnów – Kiełpin and Kiełpin – Warsaw), which are at the administrative and design stage. In the south, in Małopolska, the Widoma – Kraków section (18.29 km) is being built, closing the eastern part of the Krakow bypass between the Mistrzejowice and Grębałów interchanges, with completion planned for November 2026. The investor is GDDKiA; the Płońsk – Czosnów route was priced at slightly over PLN 2.8 billion (including approx. PLN 1.2 billion of EU funding from the FEnIKS programme), and the Widoma – Kraków section at approx. PLN 1.67 billion gross.

How it went

Assessment: too early to assess, as of 15 Jul 2026. This is our reading, not a verdict, and we show it only where a quote from a source listed below stands behind it. Of the four, 3 carry no assessment yet. How to read this section

Significance

Closing these sections removes the last "bottlenecks" on the S7 expressway corridor, one of the main north–south transit axes in Poland, linking the Tri-City, Warsaw and Krakow in the TEN-T network. The Płońsk Południe – Czosnów parts opened in 2025 divert Warsaw – Gdańsk transit traffic away from the overloaded old route, and the Widoma – Kraków section (18.29 km) being built in Małopolska closes the eastern part of the Krakow bypass between the Mistrzejowice and Grębałów interchanges. Total outlays amount to over PLN 2.8 billion on the northern route (including approx. PLN 1.2 billion of EU funds from the FEnIKS programme) and approx. PLN 1.67 billion gross on the Widoma – Kraków section.

Independence is counted the same way the gate that admits a record counts it: subdomains and titles from one publisher are a single voice, Wikipedia is zero. That is why the number is lower than the number of links. Three is the minimum.
