The deepening and widening of the maritime fairway connecting the port of Świnoujście with the port of Szczecin along an approx. 62 km section to a depth of 12.5 m and a width of 100 m. During the dredging works, approx. 24 million m³ of spoil was extracted, from which two artificial islands were formed on the Szczecin Lagoon. The investor was the Maritime Office in Szczecin, and the undertaking was co-financed from the EU Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014–2020.

Significance

The increase of the maximum permissible draught of vessels calling at Szczecin from slightly over 9 m to approx. 11 m enables the handling of larger vessels and increases the competitiveness of the Szczecin–Świnoujście port complex. The works also resulted in two new artificial islands on the Szczecin Lagoon, formed from approx. 24 million m³ of dredged spoil.
