A section of the S7 expressway (the Zakopianka) between Naprawa and Skomielna Biała in the Beskid Wyspowy range, whose main element is a twin-tube tunnel 2,058 m long driven through the massif of Mały Luboń mountain. It was the longest non-urban road tunnel in Poland at the time of opening. The investor was the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, and the section was made available to drivers on 12 November 2022 after an approx. one-year delay relative to the original deadline.

Significance

The tunnel under Luboń Mały closed the S7 expressway route on a difficult mountain section of the Zakopianka, eliminating passage through built-up areas and tight curves on the old alignment near Naprawa and Skomielna Biała. The twin-tube structure, 2,058 m long, with a full safety system and section speed enforcement, improves traffic flow and safety on the main connection between Krakow and Podhale.
