An investment programme by Microsoft announced on 17 February 2025, providing for expenditure of PLN 2.8 billion by the end of June 2026 on expanding hyperscale cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure in Poland. The funds are to support the development of existing data centre campuses of the Azure Poland Central region near Warsaw and to broaden the scope of Azure services. The investment is accompanied by a training programme for one million people and cooperation with the Ministry of National Defence in the area of cybersecurity. The announcement was presented by Brad Smith and Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Significance

The expansion is intended to increase the computing power available for AI and cloud workloads in the Azure Poland Central region, the first hyperscale cloud region in Central and Eastern Europe. The accompanying training programme covers one million Polish IT workers, teachers, lecturers, and developers, and the cooperation with the Ministry of National Defence is intended to strengthen national cybersecurity.
