The reconstruction of the operational infrastructure of Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport named after the Ulma Family includes the second stage of the construction of a parallel taxiway (approximately 1,087 m) together with two perpendicular connectors to the runway, the expansion of the aircraft turnaround pad, and the reconstruction of a 700-meter section of the runway. The contractor selected in the tender is Strabag, and the value of the contract is approximately PLN 113.8 million. The investment is co-financed from European Union funds under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF Military Mobility) 2021-2027 in the amount of approximately PLN 48 million (EUR 11 million); the remaining funds come from the airport operator and its shareholders – the Podkarpackie Voivodeship Self-Government (PLN 20 million) and Polish Airports (Polskie Porty Lotnicze) (PLN 15 million). The works are carried out while maintaining the continuity of flight operations.

Significance

The modernization of the runway and taxiways is intended to increase the capacity and operational capabilities of the Jasionka airport, which serves as a key NATO logistics hub and the main transshipment point for aid to Ukraine.
