SK Nexilis copper foil factory in Stalowa Wola
A plant producing copper foil for electric vehicle batteries, being built by the South Korean company SK Nexilis (SKC group) in Stalowa Wola. Construction was inaugurated in 2022, and production was originally planned to start in mid-2024; the schedule was delayed, among other reasons, due to the slowdown in the electric vehicle market. The declared value of the investment is approx. PLN 3 billion, and the target production capacity is approx. 50 thousand tonnes of foil per year, which is to make the plant the largest facility of its kind in Europe. At the turn of 2024 and 2025 the project received a grant from the Polish government of PLN 545 million (approx. USD 133 million) under the EU Temporary Crisis and Transition Framework. According to local press reports from June 2026, the plant began production of copper foil (this status requires confirmation in a verifiable source).
