Mercedes-Benz is expanding its plant in Jawor in Lower Silesia (Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone "Invest Park") with a new factory for light commercial vehicles based on the fully electric, modular VAN.EA architecture. Construction was symbolically inaugurated in December 2024, and from 2026 all newly developed medium and large Mercedes-Benz vans are to be built on this platform. The company announced outlays exceeding EUR 1 billion; employment in Jawor is to grow by around 2,500 people. In 2025 assembly of the structure of the production halls was under way.

Significance

The investment makes Jawor one of Mercedes-Benz's key electromobility centres in Europe: it is a new factory for light vans on the fully electric VAN.EA platform, being launched alongside the engine and battery plant operating since 2019. The company announced outlays exceeding EUR 1 billion, and total employment in Jawor is to grow by around 2,500 people (contractually at least 300 new jobs, including 30 for people with higher education), which is associated with additional jobs at suppliers and subcontractors in the region. Series production of the new generation of commercial vehicles is to start from 2026.
