Czorsztyn-Niedzica Hydropower Complex (dam and reservoir on the Dunajec)
A hydrotechnical complex on the Dunajec River comprising the Czorsztyn-Niedzica dam and reservoir together with a pumped-storage hydropower plant and a smaller balancing weir at Sromowce Wyżne. Construction began in 1975, and work on the reservoirs, dams and power plant was completed in 1997, with a company established the same year to operate them. The Niedzica dam is Poland's highest earth-fill dam with a central clay core — its maximum height is 56 m and its length 404 m. The Niedzica power plant operates in a pumped-storage configuration (2×46.375 MW in turbine mode). The complex serves flood protection, energy and recreational functions, impounding the waters of the Dunajec and creating Lake Czorsztyńskie. The owner is Zespół Elektrowni Wodnych Niedzica S.A. — a wholly State Treasury-owned company.

Significance
The Czorsztyn-Niedzica complex of reservoirs and dams, completed in 1997 after more than two decades of construction, is one of the largest post-war hydrotechnical investments in Poland. The Niedzica dam — the country's highest earth-fill dam (56 m) — and the reservoir on the Dunajec perform a key flood protection function for the Dunajec valley, while the accompanying pumped-storage power plant supports the National Power System.
