Świnna Poręba water reservoir (Lake Mucharskie)
A retention reservoir on the Skawa River in Małopolskie Voivodeship, in the municipalities of Mucharz, Stryszów and Zembrzyce (commonly known as Lake Mucharskie). Construction began in 1986, and the facility was put into service on 26 July 2017 — after more than three decades of construction, making it one of the longest-built hydrotechnical investments in Poland. The reservoir's main purpose is flood protection of the Skawa valley below the dam (including Wadowice) and of the upper Vistula valley (including Krakow). The reservoir's flood capacity is 161 million m³. The total cost of construction amounted to approximately PLN 2.2 billion. The facility is managed by the State Water Holding Polish Waters – Regional Water Management Authority in Krakow.

Significance
The Świnna Poręba reservoir is a key element of the flood protection system in the upper Vistula basin — it protects the Skawa valley below the dam, including Wadowice, and mitigates the flood risk in the Vistula valley, including for Krakow. The flood capacity of 161 million m³ allows the flood wave on the Skawa to be reduced. The investment became a symbol of a lengthy, protracted construction process: begun in 1986, it was completed only after more than 30 years, with a total cost of approximately PLN 2.2 billion. Beyond its flood protection function, the reservoir serves as a water reserve and has become a place of recreation (Lake Mucharskie).
