Expansion and modernization of the Municipal Solid Waste Disposal Plant (ZUSOK) in Warsaw's Targówek district, renamed the Warsaw Energy Plant (WWE). The implementation contract with the Korean company POSCO Engineering & Construction was signed in 2020, work began in 2021, and the expanded installation was commissioned in February 2026. After the expansion, it is the largest thermal municipal waste treatment installation in Poland, belonging to the Municipal Cleaning Company in the Capital City of Warsaw (MPO).

Significance

The plant can process approx. 265 thousand tons of mixed municipal waste per year, converting it into electricity and heat supplying Warsaw's networks. The value of the contract with the general contractor amounted to approx. PLN 1.668 billion net (nearly PLN 2.05 billion gross). The investment, originally planned for completion in 2023, incurred a delay of several years and only started up in 2026.
