The FSRU Programme, carried out by Gaz-System, comprises the construction of a floating LNG regasification terminal in the Gulf of Gdańsk, in the area of Górki Zachodnie in Gdańsk, and the expansion of the national transmission network by approx. 250 km of gas pipelines (including Gdańsk–Gustorzyn). The chartered FSRU unit, with tank capacity of 170,000 m3 of LNG, is to enable the receipt and regasification of at least 6.1 billion m3 of gas per year. The onshore part of the programme was planned for completion in 2026, the regasification unit was launched in May 2026 at the HD Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea, its arrival in the Gulf of Gdańsk is envisaged for the end of 2027, and the start of regasification services for the first quarter of 2028. The estimated cost of the offshore and onshore infrastructure is approx. PLN 4.5 billion (excluding the cost of chartering the unit).

Significance

The terminal is to increase Poland's liquefied natural gas import capacity and strengthen the diversification of supplies. The target regasification capacity of at least 6.1 billion m3 of gas per year is to cover a significant part of national demand.
