PUM Clinical, Teaching and Research Centre at University Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Szczecin

The Clinical, Teaching and Research Building of the Pomeranian Medical University (PUM) is the largest investment in the university's history, being built on ul. Unii Lubelskiej in Szczecin, opposite University Clinical Hospital No. 1. The facility, with a usable area of approximately 49,000 m², will house sixteen clinical and teaching units, including the Centre for Translational Medicine and the Collegium Pharmaceuticum, along with 49 teaching and lecture rooms, an auditorium for more than 400 people, and an underground garage for approximately 600 spaces. The investment is being carried out under the Multi-Year Program 2019-2026, and its total value is PLN 812,742,418, with co-financing from the Ministry of Health of PLN 802,098,000. Construction began at the end of 2023; the general contractor is a consortium of Korporacja Budowlana DORACO (leader) and PORR; the value of the construction works contract reached nearly PLN 519.8 million gross. The topping-out ceremony was held on 10 September 2025, and the facility is planned to be handed over for use in 2026, with full commissioning in the 2027/2028 academic year.

Significance

Described as the largest investment in the history of the Pomeranian Medical University, it is intended to consolidate the university's dispersed clinical, teaching and research activities in a single modern complex with an area of approximately 49,000 m². The building will house sixteen organizational units, including the Centre for Translational Medicine and the Collegium Pharmaceuticum, 49 teaching and lecture rooms, and an auditorium for more than 400 people, strengthening the base for training medical personnel and scientific research in the West Pomeranian region. Located opposite University Clinical Hospital No. 1, the facility is to be handed over for use in 2026 and reach full operation in the 2027/2028 academic year.
