Bałtyk 3 Offshore Wind Farm (MFW Bałtyk III)

under construction stage: construction
3.0 bn EUR
programme budget (multi-year) · 2025 prices ≈ 13 bn PLN (value-by-stage, est., nominal)

An offshore wind farm with a capacity of 720 MW under construction by the joint venture of Equinor and Polenergia (50% each) in Poland's exclusive economic zone of the Baltic Sea, approximately 22-37 km from the shore near Ustka. The project is being carried out in parallel with the neighbouring Bałtyk 2 farm (together 1,440 MW, 100 turbines); the combined value of both investments is approximately PLN 27 billion excluding financing costs. The final investment decision (FID) and financial close were announced in May 2025, after which construction began. The farms' operations and maintenance base was located in Łeba. According to the schedule, the first power is to flow to the grid in 2027, and full commercial commissioning is planned for 2028.

Significance

One of the first offshore wind farms being built in the Polish part of the Baltic and an important element in building the country's offshore sector. The 720 MW capacity (and, together with the Bałtyk 2 farm being built in parallel, 1,440 MW in total) is intended to supply the Polish power system with clean energy and to contribute to the decarbonisation of the energy mix. The investment creates industrial and service facilities on the coast, including an operations and maintenance base in Łeba, and strengthens the grid connection infrastructure (220 kV and 400 kV substations and lines).
