A comprehensive reconstruction of the 21st Tactical Air Base at Świdwin (Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship), preparing the airfield to host a squadron of 5th-generation F-35A fighters. The scope includes modernization of the runway and taxiways, aircraft parking aprons, the construction of hangars, QRA infrastructure (quick reaction alert crew building), and accompanying facilities. According to Polska Zbrojna, the general overhaul of the base — which also serves an FA-50PL squadron and a search-and-rescue group — is expected to cost approximately PLN 2.5 billion. Most of the facilities are to be commissioned from spring to autumn 2026. This record covers only the base infrastructure, not the purchase of the F-35 aircraft themselves.

Significance

The modernization gives Polish aviation a second base — alongside Łask — capable of receiving F-35A fighters, strengthening air defense on the north-western axis. The investment is one of the largest airfield infrastructure expansion programs of the Polish Armed Forces, engaging numerous contractors (including PORR, Erbud, Mirbud) on behalf of AMW Sinevia.
