Młoty Pumped-Storage Power Plant (revival)
The revival of the Młoty pumped-storage power plant in the Bystrzyckie Mountains, on the Bystrzyca Łomnicka river, in the village of Młoty in the Bystrzyca Kłodzka municipality in Kłodzko County (Dolnośląskie Voivodeship). Construction began in 1973 and was abandoned; the project is being taken up again by PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, carrying it out through the special-purpose company PGE Inwest 12, in which NFOŚiGW holds a 49% stake. Under the current assumptions, the plant is to reach a capacity of 1,050 MW and approx. 4,090 MWh of storage capacity. The estimated cost of the investment is approx. PLN 5 billion (some sources give at least PLN 6 billion). Carrying out this variant of the project requires flooding the entire village of Młoty to create the lower reservoir. At the turn of 2025 and 2026 the company submitted an environmental report to the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection (RDOŚ) in Wrocław, and the project schedule depends on the timing of obtaining the environmental decision.

Significance
The project is intended to be one of the most advanced undertakings to build a pumped-storage power plant in Poland and to serve for energy storage and stabilisation of the national power system during peaks in demand. At full capacity of 1,050 MW the installation could operate for approx. four hours. The lower reservoir on the Bystrzyca river is also to serve a retention function, reducing the risk of flooding in the area of Bystrzyca Kłodzka. The price of the undertaking, however, is the flooding of the entire village of Młoty to create the lower reservoir, which raises social opposition and environmental concerns.
