Clinical and Teaching Centre of the Medical University of Łódź – Stage II (CKD2) with the Academic Oncology Centre
The second stage of construction of the Clinical and Teaching Centre (CKD2) of the Medical University of Łódź is a multi-year investment programme carried out on Pomorska street with a budget of PLN 798.5 million, financed mainly from the state budget (PLN 625.2 million), the university's own funds (PLN 128.8 million), and funds of the Central Clinical Hospital of the Medical University (PLN 44.5 million). The investor is the Medical University of Łódź, and the implementation period covers the years 2018–2026. The contract with the consortium of contractors Warbud and Budomal was signed on 27 August 2020, originally with a completion deadline of 865 days (completion planned for 2023), which was subsequently pushed to 2026. The scope includes the development of the previously unfinished part of buildings A1 and A2 for a new medical programme, the expansion of the operating block and imaging diagnostics, and the creation of a total of 21 medical units, including the Academic Oncology Centre and the Academic Gynaecology and Obstetrics Centre. The total area is 42,083 m², of which 7,177 m² is a new building. The investment is at an advanced stage: an occupancy permit was obtained for building A1, and highly advanced finishing works and acceptance procedures with the investor were underway on building A2.

Significance
CKD2 is one of the largest hospital and academic investments in Łódź and the Łódź region, concentrating the previously dispersed medical and teaching units of the Medical University into a single complex on Pomorska street. A key outcome of the programme is the creation of the Academic Oncology Centre and the Academic Gynaecology and Obstetrics Centre, together with the expansion of the operating block and imaging diagnostics and a total of 21 medical units over an area of more than 42,000 m². The investment, worth PLN 798.5 million and financed mainly from the state budget, also illustrates the schedule slippage and cost increases typical of large hospital projects: the originally assumed completion in 2023 was pushed to 2026, and the programme's value rose from approx. PLN 576 million (2020) to PLN 798.5 million. In mid-2026 the investment was in its final phase — building A1 obtained an occupancy permit, and building A2 was at the stage of advanced finishing works and acceptance procedures.
