CAMILA – National Constellation of Earth Observation Satellites (ESA/NRP)
CAMILA (Country Awareness Mission in Land Analysis) is a national Earth observation satellite constellation being built by Creotech Instruments S.A. as the main contractor. The constellation was ordered by the Ministry of Development and Technology, which entrusted the conduct and management of the tender to the European Space Agency (ESA). The original contract from April 2025, valued at approximately EUR 51.9 million, covers at least three satellites (radar, high-resolution optical, and lower-resolution optical) together with a ground segment for satellite control and data processing. According to ESA, more than 90 percent of the solution consists of technology developed in Poland, and the intellectual property rights remain in the country. In November 2025 the contract was expanded to more than EUR 59 million, adding a fourth satellite on the HyperSat platform and extending the schedule. It is the largest contract ever signed between ESA and a Polish entity.

Significance
The constellation is intended to give Poland its own sovereign Earth observation capabilities – both radar and optical – together with a domestic ground segment for satellite control and data processing. Thanks to the more than 90-percent share of domestic technology and the retention of intellectual property rights in Poland, the project strengthens the technological independence of the Polish space sector and engages several hundred specialists across the country.
