The construction of two combined-cycle gas units using CCGT technology with a total installed gross capacity of approximately 1,336 MWe at the Kozienice Power Plant in Świerże Górne. The investment is being carried out by Enea Elkogaz of the Enea Group, and the general contractor for the turnkey (EPC) contract is the Turkish company Calik Enerji; the technology supplier is GE Vernova. The construction site was handed over to the contractor on 2 January 2026, and the handover of the units for operation is planned for 31 March 2029 and 30 June 2029. Financing of PLN 6.95 billion was provided in December 2025 by a consortium of Polish banks led by Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego. The project replaces worn-out coal-fired capacity at Kozienice.

Significance

The two combined-cycle gas units with a capacity of approximately 1,336 MWe are intended to replace aging coal-fired capacity at the Kozienice Power Plant, providing a stable, controllable energy source supporting the security of the National Power System during the transition period. The project secured capacity market support for 17 years from 2029, and the share of Polish companies in its execution is estimated at approximately 75%, giving a development impulse to the central-eastern Poland region.
